J. Scott Cellars
Paul Lange was born in Bellingham, WA.
Virginia Lange was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Paul and Virginia settled in the Rogue Valley in 1984 when they purchased Pioneer Orchards, a 22.5 acre fruit orchard. Over the years two more pieces of the property were acquired and in 2003 the fruit orchard was transformed into a 45 acre vineyard. Virginia played a major role in creating and decorating the tasting room and gift shop, located in the old barn on the property. She is exceedingly talented and has been an integral part of working and developing the farm over the last 35 years.
TASTING ROOM CREW
Jonathan Oberlander has been StoneRiver's exclusive winemaker for 5 years and has produced award winning wines for the vineyard. Initially, Jonathan pursued a career in finance. His career took a new direction when he became interested in winemaking. He was trained in viticulture and enology at both the University of California at Davis and California State University in Fresno. He worked several years as an Assistant Winemaker and then as an Associate Winemaker Bernadus Vineyards in Carmel Valley, California. He also spent many years as an Assistant Winemaker at Silvan Ridge in Eugene, Oregon. Now Jonathan and his wife Bonnie have their own highly successful label, J. Scott Cellars, located in Eugene, Oregon in the Willamette Valley.
Tasting Room & Event Manager
Jamie Haight-Lange was born here in the Rogue Valley. Jamie has prior management experience in the retail industry and has a passion for wine and customer service, with an extensive knowledge of our wines. She is responsible operating every aspect of the tasting room, including managing events. Jamie is professional, warm and welcoming, providing a pleasant customer experience.
Sustainability & Office Manager
Paula Luz was born in Roswell, New Mexico. Paula has a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts and a background in Aerospace logistics and procurement. Her family ties are in the Rogue Valley, for 5 years she has taken part in the family business where she assists in managing StoneRiver by performing a variety of administrative, bookkeeping, and field tasks including implementing sustainable practices throughout the vineyard.
ALBERTO GUTIERREZ AVILA
Alberto Avila was born and raised in Mexico. He spent many years at his grandfather's Dairy Ranch working the land and making cheese. He then moved to California where he worked several years for a top global technology company as part of their Kitchen & Chef team. Three years ago, Alberto began working for us fixing and maintaining our farm equipment and working the vineyard. He is hard working, and dedicated with a host of diverse skills and talents. When our Vineyard Manager retired after 24 years, there was no question that Alberto was a good fit for the position.
Mechanical Harvest Manager
Patrick Lange was born in Omaha, Nebraska. Patrick has been working in the Childcare Management Software industry as the Customer Service Director. He has overseen the customer service department for over 20 years. When harvest season kicks in, Patrick assists in the family business by operating the mechanical harvester to ensure the grapes are harvested at the peak of ripeness which can be measured in many ways, sugar, acid, tannin levels, weather, or even taste.
